Circa 1870, Victorian oak open bookcase, the top with ogee moulding and stylish apron beneath above two open sections each with three adjustable shelves. There is a stylish section in the middle with moulding on each side and at the ends there are two flat plasters. Beneath the top section there is a small moulding, on which the top section sits, and a small breakfront section with a flat fore edge. At the base, there are three solid panelled doors. Inside the right hand section there are two shelves, and in the left-hand double section there are also two shelves, all with oak veneered facings. The panels on the doors are framed, and beneath this there’s a small ogee moulding and the whole bookcase stands on an enclosed plinth. The bookcase is clean and sturdy.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
