We originally sold this piece shortly after we opened our first retail shop in Albemarle street in the mid-60s, and the satin is the original one we used before we evolved our flower logo, so I was pleased to buy it back.. The cameo is hardstone with a finely carved, slightly pinkish cameo of Ajax, bearded and wearing a helmet carved with a battle scene. As you can imagine, stone is far harder to carve than shell, which you can scratch with an emery board. The cameo is mounted in a diamond and natural pearl border, and can be worn as a pendant or as a brooch, as the brooch fitting detaches, as alternatively does the pendant loop when worn as a brooch. Excluding the loop, the piece is 1 7/8 inches:45 mm in height, and dates from around 1870.
Please note that this price may NOT include delivery charges which the seller may charge extra for.
