A good clean copy of "The 20th Century Muse" by Annette & Luc Vezin, originally published in France in 2002 by Éditions de la Martinière of Paris, this edition translated from the French by Toula Ballas, and published by Harry N. Abrams of New York in 2003. In this thoughtful and provocative exploration of the muses of twentieth-century art - from the well known to the unjustly forgotten, the authors examine some twenty four couples whose pairings have left an indelible mark on the pages of art history. Scrupulously researched and authoritatively written, the book convincingly argues that these muses were not marginal figures to a scene, or simply hangers-on, but were in most cases talented, wilful and complementary characters in their own right. Soft covers, some 334 un-numbered pages, black and white and full colour illustrations, integral dust jacket.
