    stunning thomas hickson 8 day long case clock

    A Queen Anne floral marquetry walnut 8 day longcase clock by Thomas Hickson, London cc 1690-1706. The case with cross grain mouldings and marquetry with designs of flowers, birds and grotesques. The trunk and plinth having sand-burnt boarders to the surrounds. The sides of the case being veneered and crossbanded in walnut. The door having decorated ormolu bezel to the lenticle with matching escutcheon. The 12 inch dial having matted center and ringed winding holes with ringed and engraved date aperture and second hand dial. The spandrels having cupids supporting crowns surmounted with crosses. The clock measuring only 7 feet high has now faded to a beautiful mellow colour but retaining good original patination.
