Circa 1880, set of oak late Victorian chairs by W. Whytock & Company, Edinburgh, with makers stamp under the rail. Whytock & Co are part of the famous Whytock & Reid Partnership before the merger. The oak chairs have a shaped top rail, stuffover seat and slight reeding to the front and back rails, continuing to the seat. With square back legs, tapering and outswept, and ring turns to the centre of the front legs, finishing on a raised toe.

The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
