Circa 1870, unusual set of 4 Scottish solid mahogany dining chairs/hall chairs. The simple backs have a curved splat in the centre and tapering uprights. The unusual feature of the chairs is they have solid mahogany scooped out seats which are dipped in the centre and raised at the front. Beneath this there is a simple apron. The back legs are square, tapering and slightly out swept. The front legs are turned and tapering, almost with a canon barrel effect, finishing on a tapering raised toe. The chairs have good colour, clean and sturdy.
