Circa 1820. A rare, neat size Scottish George IV mahogany bow-fronted chest of drawers. The top with well figured mahogany banded on the back edge, with beading on the fore edge with simple frieze. The front has a configuration of two short over three further full length graduating drawers. Each of the drawers has a neat size turned knob handle, there are fluted tapering pilasters on each end, and the top of the chest conforms to the shape of the front. Beneath the bottom drawer there is similar beading to the top and the whole piece rests on, at the back stout turned feet, at the front elegant turned and tapering feet. The chest has excellent colour and patination.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
