Arachnophobia does n't seem to apply when the spider is set with gems, as this one is. Made around 1900, the gold pin is applied with a fly with rose-cut diamond wings, pearl abdomen and ruby eyes, and climbing up a chain towards it is a spider set with rose-cut diamonds and sapphires. The insects are silver-fronted, gold backed, as one expects from this just pre-platinum period. Width: 1 1/2 inches:37mm the pin. Height: 1 3/4 inches:45mm overall
