Circa 1820, Exhibition quality scumbled rosewood and marble topped open bookcase, likely by James Mein of Kelso. With thick white marble top and a Gothic style gilded, cast brass gallery with raised sections topped with cast brass balls (rising to a height of 8 cm). It has 1 large open section flanked by smaller sections in simulated rosewood, separated by carved pilasters which are fluted, tapering and carved. The shelves are adjustable, finished with an egg and dart beading. Standing on fluted, splayed block feet.
