Circa 1810, unusual rosewood sarcophagus shaped sewing box. The top has multiple inlays and banding, and opens to show a large interior lined and painted in pink. There are 2 cast brass lion mask lifting handles on either side. There is a drawer flush into the facing on the front with a lock which opens to reveal a similar lined interior to the top. The escutcheon on the top and bottom is diamond shaped and ivory. The whole piece stands on four large circular brass feet. Stylish box retaining its original colour and with good patination.
