Circa 1815, Regency mahogany sofa table with satinwood, ebony, rosewood and tulip wood cross banding. The top in goncalo alves has a wonderful cross banding starting with an ebonised section, satinwood, rosewood which has tulip wood string inlay to it. When the leaves are up there are D-rounded corners and to the front are 2 drawers in the apron. The drawers have similar inlay to the top but in a smaller scale at their base. The back of the table has a polished apron with no drawers. The table stands on 4 turned, tapering and ring turned columns which sit in a raised platform with the same veneer as seen on the top. The polished fore-edge has double string continuing all the way around and beneath this are 4 stylish sabre legs with veneers and inlay, and the legs finish on a cast brass hair paw foot with brass castors beneath. The table is in excellent colour and condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
