A Roman child's ring circa 200/300 AD found in the Thames, in solid high-carat gold set with a tapered banded onyx. This could only have belonged to a child from a wealthy patrician family and as late as the 18th century, children were dressed and bejewelled like small adults from an early age - when infant mortality was high, and many adults did not make it past fifty. A very collectable ring, nevertheless - unless you feel like treating one of your children! The ring is a UK size F : US size 2 3/4 - really tiny.
