A lovely quality inlaid Chess Table, dating to the Regency period. The table is profusely inlaid, not only on the top but also on the base in a chequered design. The woods used are mahogany, rosewood, satinwood and boxwood. The table stands on well carved scroll feet with a tripartite base. The central column is triangular in section with a chamfered edge. The top has a nice wavy edge shaped apron and is a tilt top, which allows the inlaid top to be displayed. The whole is in excellent untouched condition and has a wonderful patina and colour. This is an unusual table and bares some relationship to Irish furniture. C.1820.
