A good, early, First Edition ?, copy of the libretto to "Peter Grimes", an Opera in three acts and a Prologue, derived from the poem of George Crabbe, words by Montague Slater, music by Benjamin Britten, undated, but the frontispiece printed, Copyright 1945 etc., by Boosey and Hawkes. Britten's "Peter Grimes", with libretto by Slater was completed in 1945 and had it's premiere on June 7 of that year by the Sadler's Wells Opera Company. Slightly over a year later, the work had its American premiere at the Boston Symphony's summer home at Tanglewood, under the baton of Leonard Bernstein. Soft covers, 50 pages plus four page Introduction.
