Circa 1860, mid Victorian carved oak hall chair. The elaborate back has a lion head and foliate carving on top, contained within an architectural style pediment. The uprights either side have a stylish carving down the facing, and the central panel has carved foliate and curving pattern through it. The solid oak seat has scratch carving, and beneath this is a simple apron. The back legs are square and slightly splayed and the front legs are turned with a bulbous carved section in the centre and finishing on raised bun feet. These are united by an H stretcher. Good colour and very stylish.
