    A fine clean copy of "The London Furniture Makers from the Restoration to the Victorian Era ~ 1660 - 1840", by Sir Ambrose Heal, first published in 1953, this edition published in 1988 by Portman Books of London. A record of some 2,500 cabinet - makers, upholsterers, carvers and gilders with their addresses and working dates, illustrated by 165 reproductions of maker's trade cards. Includes a chapter by R.W. Symonds, F.S.A., on the problem of identification of the furniture that they produced, illustrated by some hitherto unpublished examples of authenticated pieces. A valuable work of reference for the student of furniture history as well as the dealer and serious collector of antique furniture. Hard covers, large format, 276 pages, original dust jacket.
