large pair of brass floor standing lamps

Circa 1930s, unusual and rare pair of brass floor standing lamps. Likely of Syrian origin, the pagoda shaped tops have cast brass finials in the forms of leaves, with open fretwork. The top tapers down to a large circular area with glass panels, held in place by turned uprights and between these are a small bird motif. This is glazed, with the working lamp inside (with electricity). The body of the lamp has a variety of cast Arabic script, with patterns and birds, and animals. The turned and bulbous sections continue downwards, to a large, flared circular area with further Arabic script, and open fretwork above and below. It finishes on a large circular base, with an open fretwork, small apron.
