Circa 1890, Meiji period lacquered Japanese Shodona cabinet, with a variety of different materials to give the overall effect including stained wood, carvings, inlay, mother of pearl, ivory, painting, lacquer and Chinoiserie. The panel in the centre in ivory and mother of pearl depicts a lady with a tea urn. There are various cupboards and sliding doors with birds and foliate, standing on a typical stand of the period. The work is so intricate and involved, even the door pulls are carved mother of pearl. The cabinet is oozing in quality, style and sophistication.
