Circa 1920s, large Japanese lacquered and painted stand with a tray top section. The lacquer showing scenes of houses, lakes, bridges, people and trees. The top edge is gilded and is slightly blushed where it has been cleaned with venetian red coming through. Beneath is a large flared apron with painting, open fretwork and Japanese patterns. Standing on 6 elegant cabriole legs with further painting on the front and finishing with a scroll foot with open fretwork. The feet sit on a raised platform base which follows the same form as the top, painted elaborately with floral and geometric patterns. It stands on 6 gilded feet which are slightly recessed, and not visible beneath the base.
