An Indian brooch of formalised leaves set with flat and rose-cut diamonds in a finely beaded surround in high-carat gold, perhaps formerly formed part of a larger piece of jewellery, however extremely attractive and characterful as it is. Indian jewellery is very traditional with design and workmanship handed down from generation to generation, so this piece is difficult to date-but I would take a guess at the late 19th century, but could be earlier. Approximately 2 1/2 inches: 60 mm in height overall.
