Landscape in the typical manner of the artist: A large tree divides the image into two halves. On the left, a wide Rhine landscape with boats. On the shore, a busy little port and various buildings and churches. In the distance, mountains in front of the setting sun which colours the sky yellowish orange. On the other side, a path meanders along a massif with travelers, including a farmer who leads two heavily loaded mules, one with the farmer's wife seated the wrong way round.
