A Georgian mahogany writing box or box desk by Hicks of London. The box is mahogany with brass edges, kingwood cross banding to the top and front, with heavy ebony line inlay. The box has military style brass plate handles and a pair of brass supports to hold the lid open so it can be used as a lectern.
