georgian oak candlebox c.1800

This is a very handsome Georgian oak candlebox. Dates to late 18thCentury or early 19th Century

It is well made with handcut dovetails and the front panel slides well in the groove to close the box. It has a reeded edge and a half round ornamental, 'rainbow' profile top.Hangs on the wall via a screw hole inside.These would have been used in cottages and country homes to hold their precious household candles.Condition - very good
