An early 19th century Georgian mahogany architect's table stamped 'Gillows'. The table has a rise and fall mechanism to adjust the height and two squared supports that are tapered and have brass strapping at the top. The base has four sabre shaped legs in two pairs that have brass toes and casters and are joined by a turned cross rail. When the top is lifted there are brass pins to each side to hold it in position at the desired height. The table top writing or drawing surface has an adjustable rest and can be adjusted to sit at an angle. There is a small drawer underneath the top to hold instruments, the edge of the drawer is stamped 'Gillows'. At each side of the table top is a candle stand that swivels out.
