Circa 1900, late George III flame mahogany fold over card table in the manner of Bruce and Burns, Edinburgh. The table has a D-shaped top of flame mahogany with a large cross banded section in satinwood then framed in boxwood and ebony. A further cross banding of tulip wood or similar leads on to the fore-edge of the top, which is lined with boxwood. The front edge is flat with mahogany banding and boxwood banding beneath, and the top is hinged. With the inside covered in green felt it has been framed with a small section of boxwood banding and mahogany to each side of it. Below the top is an apron that follows the form of the table top. The top of the legs intercept this apron and have an oval panel of satinwood, framed in boxwood. Both the back legs have wooden hinges and pull out to hold the table top whilst open, and the top of them has been lined in felt to prevent scratching. The table stands on 4 elegant square and tapering legs which have double string inlay to the front and sides. Near the bottom are 4 pieces of mahogany which have been applied and taper over the feet providing a more elegant finish.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
