This English, possibly Yorkshire, Victorian period rosewood carved pedestal kneehole desk, Circa 1870, features attractive grained rosewood throughout. The rectangular top with its moulded edge is inset with a leatherette skiver bordered with gilt and embossed detail. Over which, the three drawers with blind fretted carved foliate detail and brass handles include a hinged writing slope in the centre drawer. The top is supported by a pair of pedestal cabinets both featuring carved monogram panels, possibly "J.R.S." or "I.S.R.", include original working locks and brass handles. The left cabinet reveals a double shelved cavity, and the right features three attractive drawers with flush set campaign style brass handles, all raised on plinths.
