This fine Late 20th Century porcelain character figurine, "Chien-Lung of the Manchu Dynasty", inspired perhaps by his former tutor Noke's fascination with characters from the orient, and offered here in a green and red palette, bears all of the hallmarks of Reg Johnson's multi-faceted talent, not only as designer, but also as potter and painter. Superbly modelled, beautifully decorated, and fired in his own studio, this lovely piece offers the perfect introduction to the works of this talented Staffordshire artist, examples of whose work may now be viewed at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. The underside fully signed and dated in black script, viz. :- CHIEN-LUNG OF THE MANCHU DYNASTY By STUDIO Potter Reg Johnson .1988.
