Early 20thC Continental Carolean Style Dark-Stained Hall Chair with Upholstered Seat

An exceptional Carolean style dark-stained piece, thought to be continental and probably from around the 1920s but in very good condition, with elaborately carved back of acanthus leaves, flower heads, berries & scrolls with a framework of over-lapping 'tiles', surmounted by a pair of facing turtle doves, the rear flat but incised with matching motifs, on turned base and shaped rear legs, turned & blockwork front legs and a similar H-stretcher, the front legs joined by a carved scrollwork arch, the seat with later upholstery and covered in a crimson velour with matching braided trim, this regal hall chair will distinguish the most elegant of homes, whether period-furnished or more contemporary in style, fully-deserving of the admiring attention it will surely attract.

    O/All Width at the Seat 52.5cm x Depth 52.5cm (20.75" x 20.75"), O/All Height at Back 126cm (49.5") & Height to Seat 55cm (21.75")
    Width of Back 43.5cm (17.25")

This is a period piece from the early 20thC, so you might expect some wear & tear commensurate with age but, barring an old repair to the head of one turtle dove and a light ring indent in the seat fabric, it's actually in very good, clean & sound condition, ready to use in your home.
