An early 20th century fruitwood and brass edged basket shaped sewing box. The box has a hinged lid which has a recessed centre panel that has a brass mould. The basket style base has turned fruitwood pillars that are held in a frame with silk behind, the upper and lower frames have a brass edge. The sewing box has brass ring handles to the narrow sides. The box is in good condition with some perishing to the silk and has an Austrian retailer's label underneath for "G Edlauer, Wien".
