Circa 1840, very stylish and unusual mahogany Dutch marquetry side cabinet. The raised top has a circular double string inlay with a floral marquetry decoration in the centre, above the apron which has a marquetry panel and conceals a full length drawer. Below this there is a tambour door which retracts back into the cabinet. It is constructed on stylish flame mahogany with a marquetry panel and a brass lifting handle. Beneath this there is a further door again with a marquetry panel and brass knob handle. This is double hinged and opens to reveal a cupboard. The gables of the stand are profusely inlaid with stylish Dutch marquetry. At the base there is an enclosed plinth with marquetry panels on the front and sides. The cabinet is neat, clean and sturdy.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
