    'downed' spitfire oil by roy gregory

    A oil on board depicting a battle of Britain dogfight. The work shows a spitfire taking out a stuker, and is titled 'Downed'. The artist is Roland Charles Leslie Gregory, known as Roy, an amateur, who had been an RAF pilot and attained the rank of Group Captain. The work is vivid and full of movement and shows the artist's intimate knowledge of the situation. The work is mounted in the original oak frame and is in excellent condition. C.1950.
