Circa 1890, Qing dynasty Chinese darkwood octagonal shaped plant stand. The top with its framed marble insert following the same shape as the top. The fore-edge is beaded and the stand has a well carved, flared apron which is so profusely carved it is difficult to differentiate between the apron and the legs. There is a cruciform crossover stretcher and centre motif of bamboo leaves with the leg stretchers themselves in the form of bamboo branches. The legs finish on a primitive animalistic foot.
