antique pair russian ormolu mounted console tables c1840 19th c

This is a fine antique pair of Russian Neo-classical marble topped and ormolu mounted mahogany console tables, dating from Circa 1840.

The Gris St Anne marble tops feature decorative three quarter pieced brass galleries over frieze drawers decorated with brass trim with diamond motif and ormolu mounts. They are each raised on four elegant tapering Doric columns with recessed ormolu fluting united by undertiers with ebony inlaid banding on cone shaped ormolu mounted feet .The pair of beautifully refined proportions and retaining excellent colour and patination.Complete with the original working locks and keys.

Is a beautiful dark gray marble with lght gray and white markings.
The principal quarries are at Gougnies, near Charleroi; and at Biesme, Namur, Belgium.
