Austria specialised in flower jewellery, in rock-crystal, as this example, but also using a variety of coloured stones and minerals like jade, coral, amethyst, lapis and so on to present a piece in its natural colours. Brooches are not uncommon, but I do not remember having a pair of earrings very often. These are beautifuly carved, set in 14ct white gold with diamond set stems, and peridot centres between white gold stamens. They were probably made in the 1930s, but possibly 1950s. They are stamped with a maker's mark GES and GESCH and a tiny control mark. There is a tiny repair on one of the petals that you would never notice. The earrings are designed to go upwards on the ear, and are approximately 1 1/4 inches: 35 mm including the stems, with the flowers approximately i inch: 25 mm across. Also see 'on you' a nearly matching rock-crystal flower brooch N464A
