A truly impressive and attractive, gesso and giltwood, three plate overmantle mirror. It meassures 54ins (137cms) wide and 37ins (94cms) high and is bulit in the Regency style and made during the early/mid Victorian period.
It has a circular central mirror plate which is flanked on either side by an upright retangular plate. It is adorned with column supports and a frieze sporting classical relief figures topped with a ball and swept cornice top edge. It is finished in gilt over its entire body.
All of the three mirror plates are original and all have bevelled edges. there is virtually no wesr to these mirrors except three small black spots on the right hand plate, ( please see photo)
It is in good condition with only minor nibbles and wear commensurate with age, to some edges, a flaked area of about 1cm square near the top right hand side and there is household emulsion on the very top edge.
A wonderful piece of antique mantle decoration that is both practical and decorative and it would raise the level of any room!
