19thC Oak Clerk's Table-Top Writing Slope with Storage Box

A proper antique from around the mid-Victorian period and redolent of a way of life that is long gone, with a hinged and attractively-grained slope that has its obligatory book stop and opens on to a spacious plain storage box, the top fitted with a three-quarter up-stand, the top & slope over-sailing the box that has great dovetailed corners and impressively-moulded plinth, this generously-proportioned clerk's table-top writing slope is both timeless and immensely practical and will impress in the most elegant of homes, fully-deserving of the admiring attention it will surely attract.

    O/All Width 55cm x Depth 48.75cm (21.75" x 19.25")
    O/All Height at Rear 24cm (9.5") & at Front 15cm (6")

An antique piece from around 1850-80, so you may expect the mature character & patina that only comes with considerable age but, although it's missing the lock & stay and there's been a little movement in the front joints, in all other respects it's in good, clean & sound condition, ready to use in your home.
