19thC French Mahogany Work Table or 'Poudreuse'

An unpretentious French mahogany veneered piece from around the late 19th Century but in good condition, with a rectangular top that has projecting moulded edges, is hinged to the rear and opens to reveal a fitted interior in pale wood and ebonised framed mirror, the top fitted with a working lock & key, as is the drawer below, having moulded panel front, over a small slide-out timber bin, all supported on pairs of fluted, ring-turned and inverse-tapering columns and square, splayed legs with plain scrolled feet and united by a turned & fluted stretcher, this eminently practical work table or 'poudreuse' will charm in any elegantly-appointed home, whether period-furnished or more contemporary in style.

NB: A 'poudreuse' is defined as a small dressing table with a mirror that usually folds down at the top.

    Width at Top 51.5cm x Depth 38.25cm (20.25" x 15") & Height 71.5cm (28.15")
    O/All Height with Top Raised 105cm (41.35")

This piece dates from the latter part of the 19thC, so you may expect the mature character & patina of age, together with wear & tear commensurate with normal use, including some blemishes in the mirror glass but, otherwise, it's in good, clean & sound condition and ready to use in your home.
