This is a 19th Century Victorian antique black slate marble mantel clock. The enamel dial is white with black Roman numerals and has minute markers around the outer edgeThe case is predominantly black slate with green veined marble columns either side of the clock face. A house may have been built on the site of the present Standen Hall in the 15th century, but a plan of 1740 shows a south-facing H-shaped house, suggesting that any medieval building was probably replaced in the 17th century.
