Circa 1910, rare 14 piece walnut and burr walnut dining suite. Consisting of 8 single chairs, 2 arm chairs, dining table, drinks cabinet and side table.
The George I style chairs have an arched back with central foliate carvings and shaped burr walnut splat with cane panels. The arm chairs have shaped arms with scrolling fronts supported by shaped uprights. The back legs are turned, slightly outswept and hipped, cabriole front legs on curled toes and stretchers to sides.
The oval dining table has a burr walnut top, 2 extra leaves and dragooned edges with a shaped, beaded frieze. Standing on 4 cabriole legs with carved acanthus knees, c-scrolls to the back and finishing on curled toe and bun beneath. It has a wind-out mechanism.
The 4 door, stepped top burr walnut drinks cabinet has elaborate cast brass escutcheons and handles, with a combination of cupboards and drawers. This is above a well carved frieze and on legs styled like the chairs in the set.
The serving table has a burr walnut top above 2 drawers with cast brass handles, similarly carved frieze and shaped cabriole legs, united by stretchers.
The small side table has a rectangular top with dragooned, low fore-edge above a carved frieze and sides that are similar to the other pieces in the suite. The carved cabriole legs have acanthus knees, finish on curled toes and are united by stretchers with bun feet beneath it.
The suite can be separated and dimensions individually provided (please enquire), or purchased as a whole at £8750.
