SHOPPING FOR PLEASURE!
Posted by Iain Brunt on 26/02/2010
There is a huge difference between shopping for necessary things and shopping for the enjoyment of shopping. No matter what your income, life is too short not to enjoy leisure shopping . Before the Internet, going to the mall was a get away from home just to get out of the house. And, before the malls, there were wonderful little speciality shops to enjoy the special attention the clerks provided and the wonderful items one does not often see, displayed in ways that one can only dream of these days.Times have changed. It seems as though all of the stores in the malls are competing with each other to have the best bargain prices, instead of presenting the items displayed beautifully on life size mannequins etc. Showcases show the products, no special touches, only the price tags with red writing to show what a good buy the item is.
The small gift shops that were once in small towns have mostly disappeared due to the high cost of rent, and truthfully, due to shoppers looking for that bargain. It’s as though all those ads on TV and the ads that arrive in the mail are targeted at what bargain prices they have. That’s why so many people, that remember the pleasure of a leisure shopping experience, are turning to the internet
