FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Posted by WWW.ANTIQUES.CO.UK TEAM on 10/07/2008
Q. Are there any reasons for the pictures being relatively small even when expanded?
A. Yes the photographs are automatically resized to an optimum size to maintain good performance over the internet, larger photo's would mean a slower website which when viewing multiple items would cause conjestion.
Q. Can multiple views of the same item be uploaded e.g. show any damaged/ distressed areas of highlight specific details e.g. makers marks?
A. We are hoping that when the buyer enquires about an item the seller may be able to supply these additional images. however if many sellers should as for this facility then we will add this to the website.
Q. How many delaers have committed to using you so far ( as opposed to how many are"live" at the moment?
A. As we contiune our marketing dealers join each day we are intending to have 200 dealers on the site by the end of September. Taking into account that most dealers are now on holiday until then anyway we are no expecting many to join before then.
Q. Is there a finite limit to the number of items we can advertise at any one time?
A. No there is no finite limit after your free trial period but with the free trial there is a limit of 100 items per seller.
Q. Where does liability rest, under the trade descriptions act 1968, with you, with us, or with our dealers in the event of something going explixably wrong?
A. The responsibility lies with the sellers and an explanation of these terms can be seen on our home page under terms and conditions.
Q. Can we have a draft contract to examine to see how our relationship would be formalised?
A. By registering on the site as a seller and under no obilgation after your free trail period you can see the contract under our terms and conditions.
Q. How does the ordering/purchase,postage,payment process work?
A. The buyer is in direct contact with the seller www.antiques.co.uk has no involvement in any of these processes.
Q. What is the process should a purchaser want to return the goods and claim a refund?
A. That is to be agreed between the seller and the buyer.
Q. Can you specify the free introductory period, e.g. 28 days from us formally entering into an agreement with you.
A. Yes the free period is 6 months (183 days) after you have signed up for a sellers account.
Q. What are your regular on going charges?
A. They are 50p per day to list 25 items up to £5-00 per day to list unlimited items.
Q. Do you provide a 6 monthe free trial period?
A. Yes we do please see the large orange advert on our home page.
Q. How many hits per day have you averaged over the past ten days?
A. Since July the 1st we received 1200 visitors a day on July 10th we received 1,800 visitors. Hits can be calculated and created so they are a pointless guide we are receiving 100,000 hits per week as we are number one on all the search engines so we receive bounces.
Q. What is the conversion rate of hits:sales so far?
A. Most sellers are experienceing sales and enquiries www.antiques.co.uk has sold 4 items so far through the website presence.
Q. Why are you better than other sites including ebay?
A. Firstly Ebay is a 2nd hand goods and liquidation site, there is absolutely no comparison with our site and ebay. We are not an auction we have a dateline pre 1950, we vet every item listed, we translate our site into ten worldwide languages and 7 currencies none of which ebay or any other site for that matter does. We have been voted the best antiques website, we appear number 1 on all the search engines when asked for the word Antiques. We feel that England is the heart of the antiques wolrd and that we have the best domain name in the world.
Q. When did you actualy go live?
A. In 1999 but the this newly formated site in May 2008.
Q. Is there a limit to the text desciption for each items?
A. No but we recommend that it to be kept to aroound 2-3 paragraphs. Users do ignore large amounts of text and they can link directly to your own website to see further details.
