Circa 1910, pair of walnut and amboyna bedside cabinets by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh. The walnut veneered tops have a small ledge back and moulded edge. Below the top is a small slide with carved pull outs in the form of cherries. There is a simple drawer with a moulded edge and amboyna veneers on the front, and a classic Whytock & Reid (Lorimer) handle. The drawer is mahogany lined. Below is an open section with a single shelf which is adjustable. Beneath this again is a cupboard with a handle similar to that of the drawer, and matched veneered amboyna. There is a small apron and the cabinets stand on classic Whytock & Reid carved stylised feet. The lockers are left handed and right handed. At the sides, the solid walnut gables have a small lifting handle carved into both sides. They have a solid mahogany back. Exceptional pair of Whytock & Reid bedside cabinets, showing a lot of features of Sir Robert Lorimer with whom they had many collaborations.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
