SILVER PLATED PUNCH BOWL & HEAVILY SILVERED ORNATE STAND 1900-1910
A 1930-40 Silver Plated Punch Bowl with ladle and having lion mounted handles with rings.
The base metal of the punch bowl is copper and the ladle is stamped A1 plate and is included. The punch bowl does not originally belong to the stand,but looks OK sitting there. If you do not want the punch bowl/ladle,they can be excluded from the sale (-£195 from overall price) The main item being the magnicent and ornate hand crafted base stand dates from 1900-1910,and is very heavily Silvered and Silver soldered with ornate attachments of sculptured grapes and leaves. There is fabulous decoration all round the plinth ,with three scrolled feet to support this elegant piece which is quite a weight. The Ornate Stand cleans very easily with a silver polish and soft cloth,looking remarkably better when done every 4-5 mths which is due now ! The underneath of the ornate stand has been crafted in solid mahogany which is removable to allow access to a red cloth trim unde the glass. This item would make an ideal wedding cake stand,but it is my belief that the original use was for having a silver tree standing on top. I have looked carefully for a makers stamp or other marks,but cannot find any signs of one. The Measurements of the ornate stand are 19 1/2 Inches Diameter x 4 1/4 Inches in Height.
