Circa 1815, Regency bergere library chair, possibly made in Edinburgh. The unusual chair has deep buttoned blue cushions on the back, seat and arms. The mahogany framed chair has cane sides and back, and an unusual arched back with small carved roundels on each side. The reeded back continues down the front of the chair to form the arms and finishes again on a slight roundel at the end of the arms. There are brass brackets on both sides which would have originally held a reading table and probably a book slide. The arms at the front are supported by 2 fully carved columns, and beneath this is a small apron which runs around the chair. The back legs are out swept and front legs are turned and fluted and finish on a brass cup with a white porcelain castor.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
