Newel Post Lamp Figural Crusader
Once upon a time in America this guy stood on the newel post at the bottom of a grand staircase! This American Gas Light newel post figure in the form of a Crusader is quite impressive He measures 60” high (5’).He is made of a patinated spelter to look like a real bronze sculpture. The detail is exceptional .As I said he was originally gas burning & has since been fitted for electricity. The shade that he raises above his head is not of the period ,It is an green opalescent art glass shade that compliments well. As you can see this is a five foot high sculpture & he would be quite amazing standing anywhere. Newell post masterpieces like this one are not a common item to find these days!. He is in good condition & dates from the middle 1800’s
