Circa 1880, late Victorian mahogany fixed pedestal desk. The top has a newly re-leathered top in olive green, with tooling and gilding, and a moulded edge. At the front, is one long drawer with shaped knob handles and opens to show an oak carcass. On the left hand side are four further drawers, and on the right hand side are 2 single drawers and a double drawer with a dummy front making it large enough to hold files. All the drawers have matching carved knob handles. The fore edges are rounded, and beneath the bottom drawer the whole piece stands on an enclosed plinth. The back of the desk is polished, making it freestanding. Good size, solid and sturdy.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
