Circa 1820, George IV mahogany bow front chest of drawers. The unusual shaped chest has a large inlaid shell on the top and double string inlay as banding. Beneath the top are 2 flat pilasters. The fore edges are inlaid with boxwood and have swags and tails, and tapering inlay from top to bottom. There are 4 graduating bow fronted drawers, and inlay on the canted corners. The chest retains its original cast oval handles with flower heads in the centre. In the top drawer on the left hand side is a small label which says ‘1787’.The fore edges on the top and the base have string inlay, and the whole piece stands on unusual raised tapering and inlaid feet. Stylish, quality chest.
