George III teapoy in the form of a cellarette, the rectangular top with massive shell inlay, crossbanding in mahogany and boxwood double inlay. At the sides are two cast brass lifting handles. The top opens to reveal the interior with five sections and the original tea canister in the centre which is removable. The front has a diamond shaped escutcheon and crossbanding on all sides. Below is small moulded edge, an apron with double inlay and the whole piece stands on 4 square tapering legs which finish on cast brass castors. The cups of the castors are of the same form as the legs. Unusual piece, great colour and condition.
