Circa 1890, George III style nest of four tables. The tops have wonderful figured satinwood centres which are crossbanded in light kingwood and have a small proud beading near the edge. The fore edges of the tables are also crossbanded in a similar timber which goes around all four sides. Beneath the top, there is small trestle on each end which is shaped and this carries the four elegant and thin turned legs. At the bottom of the legs is a platform base with splayed legs which have double inlay similar to that of the top and the back legs have a curved stretcher for support. Each of the tables fits into the one above it. The underside of each table has a scoop out on the front so you can grab it with your fingers, and at the back is a stop to stop the tables slipping through each other. Excellent colour and good condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
