Circa 1920, George II style breakfront walnut cabinet bookcase. The centre has a wonderful arched top over 2 central doors with similar arches. The doors have wonderful glazing bars of half round astragals and similar beading on the door. Inside are 3 adjustable shelves with similar facing as the astragals. The sides of the bookcase are chamfered and there are three glazed areas with similar beading. Below the top doors is a shaped triple moulding and beneath this are two small doors with canted corners and crossbanding. These open to reveal a single shelf. Beneath this is a repeated elongated ogee moulding and the whole piece stands on four large bulbous squat bun feet. Neat size, excellent colour.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
